As a Substation Technician for Wolverine, you will be responsible for the maintenance, testing, and repairs of substation equipment including, but not limited to, battery banks, AC and DC power systems, building, transformers, regulators, circuit breakers and instrument transformers.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  • An associate degree in engineering technology or the equivalent from an accredited college or university with major studies in power or electronics, or knowledge, training, and experience deemed acceptable by the Cooperative.

  • A valid Michigan driver's license, including Department of Transportation's Commercial Driver's License Type A with airbrakes.

  • Must be able to maintain a first aid and CPR card.
  • Must be at an equivalent experience level of a fully qualified technician, master electrician, or have the education, experience, and training acceptable to the Cooperative.

  • Experience with Doble, Vanguard, or comparable test equipment preferred.

  • Experience in performing power factor, micro-ohm, transformer turns ratio, and timing testing on substation equipment is preferred.
  • Must be proficient with reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical and digital logic diagrams.

  • Must live within 60 minutes of the Elmira or Atlanta Service Center.
