We're seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician to join our team at our Dorr or Reed City location. Our I&C Technicians are responsible for the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of communications and SCADA equipment, substation and generation plant controls and instrumentation equipment, protective relaying, metering, and associated electrical equipment.
A Day in the Life:
As an I&C Technician, you'll perform work that supports the reliable operation of Wolverine's electric system through the installation, testing, maintenance, and support of instrumentation, control, protection, and communication equipment.
You'll work across substations, generation facilities, and communication systems to ensure equipment is properly installed, maintained, and operating as intended. This role blends hands-on field work with technical problem-solving and collaboration, requiring sound judgment, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety.
From planned maintenance and testing activities to responding to system issues, your work helps ensure continuity of service for Wolverine's members. You'll also support construction and commissioning efforts, participate in standby and restoration activities as needed, and contribute to the ongoing reliability and improvement of Wolverine's electric infrastructure.
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking a safety-focused, technically skilled professional who takes pride in high-quality work and understands the responsibility of supporting a critical electric utility system.
Required qualifications include:
- An associate degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or a related field, or equivalent education, training, and experience acceptable to the Cooperative
- Experience equivalent to a NETA Level II qualified technician, or comparable education and field experience
- A strong working knowledge of high-voltage substation equipment, including transformers, regulators, and circuit breakers
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and digital logic diagrams
- Working knowledge of electric utility system operations and maintenance
- Familiarity with computer-based testing, control, and communication interfaces used in station and substation equipment
- A valid Michigan driver's license and the ability to maintain First Aid and CPR certification
- Ability to safely perform physical aspects of the role, including carrying test equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Commitment to following Cooperative safety rules, OSHA regulations, and adapting to evolving safety standards
Experience with Doble, Vanguard, or Omicron test equipment and fiber optic installation and testing is preferred.
What We Offer:
At Wolverine, you'll find more than just a job-you'll find a career built on stability, purpose, and growth. Here's what you can expect:
- A collaborative, team-oriented culture of approximately 180 dedicated employees who are passionate about the work they do and the communities they serve
- Outstanding benefits, including generous paid time off, zero-cost insurance coverage, a 401(k) with company match, a pension plan, wellness programs, and more
At Wolverine, your work matters to the cooperative and the members we serve every day. If you're ready to build a meaningful, long-term career in the electric utility industry, we invite you to apply.
